Vision & Mission
Our Vision
To collectively work in solidarity for a world of social, economic and environmental justice for all young children, their families and communities. Our vision is grounded in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Each child has the right to live and learn in a context where there is equity, respect for diversity and is free of all forms of discrimination.
Our Mission
STAND UP is committed to implementing Anti-Bias Education in early childhood education and care training and practice. Our mission is to ensure all children and families have their identity affirmed, feel that they belong and develop to their fullest potential.
Our Objectives
The objectives of the STAND UP International Network include:
Invigorating our commitment to building ECEC services and programmes that reflect equity, diversity and Anti-Bias practices for all children and adults.
Fostering knowledge exchange between networks and professionals in our own countries and internationally and supporting critical self-reflection.
Joining with others to create ECEC systems that reflect the principle that democratic societies require equity, diversity and Anti-Bias Education practices in all levels of ECEC.
Promoting awareness and social activism to challenge structural, institutional, social, cultural, and political inequities that undermine children’s development and families wellbeing.
Exploring and examining new ideas and next steps for growing, improving, and sustaining our work.
Who we are
STAND UP is an informal international network of early childhood educators, pedagogues, managers, leaders, trainers, academics, researchers and activists, working in several countries and committed to implementing Anti-Bias Education in early childhood education and care training and practice.
Anti-Bias Approach recognizes and offers children and adults the tools to actively resist bias and systemic oppression in our society; it is a commitment to social justice.
Anti-Bias Education (ABE) provides a framework for hands-on, social justice-oriented pedagogy with young children, partnerships with families and professional development of teams, grounded in critical reflection and activism.
What We Do
We organize International online conferences with the aim to promote critical thinking and activism.
We create a space for everyone implementing Anti-Bias Education to connect, share experiences and learn from each other.
We make resources available on the STAND UP International Network website.
